New record! “Swiftest of the Big Jungle Cats” out Feb. 26!

by admin | February 16th, 2009

Well, it’s finally coming out!

Waaaaaaaay back in the winter of 2008, we began tracking what has become Swiftest of the Big Jungle Cats at our rehearsal space, the Ladies Room, in San Pedro. Our good friend Jeff Lewis recorded us out there and put up with our bullshit for quite a lengthy stretch (thanks Jeff!). The best seven tunes were eventually chosen and then mixed at The Compound in Signal Hill, also by Jeff.

We are excited to offer SOTBJC as a super-limited-edition vinyl+digital release–every record includes a high-quality download of the album at no extra cost. These shiny, black 12″ platters play at 45 rpm and feature awesome label art by our tireless pal Brian Dunning. Brian also designed the black & orange album sleeve, which we lovingly silkscreened by hand, facing almost certain brain damage in the process. We’d also like to mention Micah Panzich of Long Beach’s incredible Paperplanes, who stopped by the Compound one night to improvise some piano on one of the songs, “Fuzz Rope.” Thanks to all of our friends and loved ones that pitched in and helped us out.

Sample tunes are now available on our player. Online sales info is forthcoming–sit tight!

We hope to see you on February 26 at the Prospector for the release show!

Love,
Codpiece
